When I was in the third year of my college, I was depressed. I had no one to talk to, no one who could understand what I was going through. I was living in a hostel, and to make myself feel better, I decided to find motivating thoughts that no one would understand(without googling) except me. I looked for Spanish proverbs because that’s what my mind told me at that time. Without speaking any bullshit, this gesture helped me a lot. Maybe because the sayings that I chose reflected what I was going through back then. Whatever it was, I am grateful to have been through it. Fast forward to three years, here I am reminiscing those days. I just want to share some of those simple yet beautiful Spanish sayings with you. I believe they would help you give a better meaning to your life, or maybe help you find something insightful.

“A mal tiempo, buena cara”

Meaning- “In bad temperature, a good face.”

There are times when you have to pretend to be strong just to make others around you feel better. This proverb defines people who stand strong no matter what. This is close to my heart as it made me feel better about myself despite all the chaos happening.

“No hay dos sin tres”

Meaning- “There’s no two without three.”

This proverb gets more meaningful and true after you have experienced it. It’s mostly about how one thing that happens twice most definitely happens for a third time.

“El que la hace, la paga.”

Meaning- “He who does it, pays for it.”

This fits perfectly when someone has done something wrong. It fits right in the case of politicians and greedy people.

“Hoy por ti, manana por mi.”

Meaning- “Today for you, tomorrow for me.”

This is one of the hopeful proverbs. This is for people who don’t lose hope no matter what.

“El amor es ciego”

Meaning- “Love is blind.”

Love is blind and you are not. Make sure to take this positively. Don’t lose yourself in the name of loving.

“El amor todo lo puede.”

Meaning- “Love can do it all.”

This is a better proverb on love because it shows the strength love holds. We have so much love inside us and most people barely use it for good. Unleash the love inside you this year and surround yourself with positivity.

“A los tontos no les dura el dinero.”

Meaning’ “Money doesn’t last for fools.”

How many of you regret bad financial decisions? Most people in their 20s often face financial constraints because of bad financial choices(including me). This year, your goal should be focused on being smart because money doesn’t last if you're a fool.

My goal: This year, I am adamant to build my medium network. If you are reading this, your support would mean the world to me. you can follow, subscribe to my mailing list, or even send me a “Hi” on Linkedin.
